Holy Cheesecake Batman
Wait! What? Has this comic become a total leer-fest now?
Didn’t I just read in the comments about how you regret Sheild’s...uhmm...ample design?
Shield’s design was always meant to be a hook, a way to standout and grab readers’ attention (albeit by doing the exact same thing as every other popular webcomic).
Webcomics are a competitive space. There are thousands of free comics out there. I picked a tried-and-tested hook. Was it good a choice? Perhaps not.
This comic, believe it or not, is my first attempt to wrestle with that decision.
This issue has a lot of cheesecake, but it’s not without a point. Though I admit I am using this issue to have my cake and eat it too (pun intended).
Those first three panels though...yikes. That is some ugly cheesecake. The blur effect looks bad. The lighting looks bad. The sweat looks bad. Should have just started this page with the centre panel.
Flat as a Surfboard
I was still using three-point lighting at this stage (with soft boxes overhead to wash everything out even more) and it sucks. Everything looks flat. The sweat texture on Shield looks awful.
By the end of this issue I’ll have switched to HDRI, but for now we’re stuck with this ugly ugly lighting.
